Stony Brook University Physical Therapy Curriculum
Here we inform you details about Stony Brook University Physical Therapy Curriculum. The Doctor of Physical Therapy program is designed with a combination of didactic and clinical experiences to provide undergraduate students with a well-rounded understanding.
1st Year
This program is a three year full time study course. This course teaches you many fundamentals in the first year. You will also be introduced to critical inquiry so that you can gain first-hand clinical learning experience.
2nd Year
Second-year coursework focuses you on assessment and intervention in rehabilitation settings. The second year adds orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary and pediatric physical therapy.
3rd Year
Third year students want to work independently. Designe of Third Year curriculum to develop skills in physical therapy. A student completes the fall semester of the second year with clinical education 1 and 8 weeks of full experience. Clinical Education 2, 9 weeks is scheduled in the summer at the end of the second year.
The third year concludes with two clinical experiences designed to be culminating. Learning objectives are achieved when you gain clinical experience, creating learning experiences. You can participate in the assessment exercise yourself. Clinical Education 4 includes a project. The project involves an administrative project, establishing a database of results and a continuing education.
Stony Brook University has launched a curriculum for PT. This curriculum is driven by a formal review by the university’s students, faculty, and clinical instructors. Incoming classes are used as this curriculum when course sequencing, content is approved by the ongoing evaluation process and the Curriculum Committee within the School of Health Professions.
